Sanaa was the sunshine in our lives.
She was adored by Lubaina and Zain the minute she was born. She
was the sister her big brother Aamir grew up looking up to and
never stopped being inspired by. She was the eldest grandchild
— the cousin everyone else looked up to, half older sister
and half best friend.
Her younger cousins will tell you about Sanaa's never-ending
willingness to sneak them out for late-night ice cream. She
was the one they called for outfit advice before a big night.
She was the one they called when the advice they needed was
harder. She gave it all with so much love.
Her friends will tell you she was the reason trips made it
out of the group chat. The group chats had ideas. Sanaa had
itineraries. Once you were on one of those trips, you didn't
have to wonder where to eat, what to order, or what was worth
exploring. She knew the best spots in every city, somehow,
always. She knew what you wanted before you did.
Her creativity was its own kind of force. From singing with
her whole heart at home or on stage to leading creative
campaigns that stood out at work, Sanaa poured herself into
everything she made.
She was one of one. To all of us. To Lenny, the puppy who
thinks she hung the moon and still stands outside her bedroom
door each morning.
There was never a dull moment with Sanaa in the room. When
she walked in, the room got brighter, the weight of life felt
lighter. There isn't a person who left her company feeling
smaller. Her life was a gift to everyone who knew her, and
her light is a gift we now share with a new universe.
We miss her. We will always miss her.
